Frank Turner - Try This At Home

If you're reading this review it's because you care about music, and that's what this, the fourth single from acclaimed album 'Poetry Of The Deed' is celebrating.

Frank Turner, Britain's finest folk-punk troubadour, never ceases to rouse and inspire with the melodic fury that comes steaming out of his guitar and that fantastically gravelly voice box of his. We all get sick of 'the scene', right? 'Try This At Home' is a short and sweet one minute and fifty two seconds of middle finger to just that. The fast tempo, foot tapping, effortlessly catchy sound that bursts out of the speakers is a rally to arms against all of the superficial nonsense that all too often overtakes the purest pleasure that comes from making and experiencing music. It's telling us it's something that we should all go out and try for ourselves; and who are we to turn down a such a suggestion from a man that forever sparkles with infallible poetic charm?

This is Frank Turner on top form, inviting further complimentary comparisons to Billy Bragg; as well as being perfect for enveloping many a summer's evening with its energetic and unmistakably Irish-folk sound. And, if we all do as we're told, the economic slump will soon be over what with all the guitars, banjos and harmonicas that will be flying off the shelves. Thank you, Frank.
