Inhale Your Hate - Terrorized By Reality

Metalcore mob Inhale Your Hate are definitely not for the faint-hearted. The Italian quartet, who recently signed to SG Records, are a boisterous band that are not afraid to be blunt.

Their debut album "Terrorized By Reality" is a loud and outspoken record that touches on sensitive issues such as crime, death, the media, morality and loyalty.

Opening with the title track, the minute-long introduction features a phone call to the emergency services, sirens, screams and a haunting chant of "Terrorized/Compromised/Silenced/Forced To Die" from vocalist John Gaucho, setting an ominous tone for the rest of the album.

Unsurprisingly the other eight tracks are just as hard-hitting and the 33-minute record sees IYH, whose influences include metal titans Hatebreed and Unearth, passionately unleash their vicious noise. Particularly pungent songs include 'Horrified Gaze', which focuses on the subject of animal suffering and provides listeners with gut-wrenching growls, intricate guitar riffs and blistering drum beats.

Equally energetic is 'Separate', along with questioning society's morals and values, the unruly tune also offers brutal breakdowns, petrifying screams and gang vocals. Other highlights include angst-ridden 'Lie By Lie', ridiculously rowdy 'Russian Roulette' and ferocious 'Through The Eyes Of God'.

However, although "Terrorized By Reality" is a decent debut from the Italian quartet, it doesn't make for easy listening. The nine-track release is a little heavy going and gruelling at times and despite the record only lasting half an hour, I struggled to listen to the album in its entirety in just one sitting - I suspect many other punters will encounter the same problem.

Ultimately the four-piece's full-length is enjoyable in small doses, but the intensity of the nine songs prove to be too much to handle all at once. "Terrorized By Reality" is unlikely to leave you calm and chilled out, but then again not many metalcore albums do. If you like your music fast-paced, intricate and honest then Inhale Your Hate are definitely worth checking out.
