Deep, dirty and sensual

'(Strictly) Only Swinging' opens 50ft Woman's 'Menage a Trois' EP with a bang. Deep and dirty they take their gritty punk sensibilities, darken things up and produce a song that seeps in through your brain and makes your body want to move.

'Psychic Hygiene' kicks off with an atmospheric cacophony of sound then weaves a collection of dark rock music behind front woman Minki's lyrics; the song luscious and smooth; a dark, visceral piece with layer upon layer of sound and a lyrical story to match.

Minki's voice can easily be compared to Blondie's strong soulful one and Courtney Love's pure power grunge, but then she adds in something that is all her own and gives us Minki - a captivating, unique and sexy sound.

Final track 'You're In Love With Love (But You Ain't In Love With Me)' is a lighter, poppier piece; the music cheerful and positive in complete contrast to the lyrics which tell the story of the title with it's repeating refrain "you're in love, but you ain't in love with me, you're in love, is there a little bit there for me?" and ending with a comedic, tragic sob.

Each song triggers tangible senses and feelings, you can see the dark, grungy underground club in '(Strictly) Only Swinging'; you can feel dark inky velvet in 'Psychic Hygiene'; and then in the final track - blue skies, sun and singing birds.

I recommend putting 'Menage a Trois' on repeat and then start grooving around your living room. 50ft Woman is all about sounds that you have to move to and stories to intrigue you; the more you listen the more you'll discover depths you couldn't have imagined.
