Americana

With single 'Idaho' The Action Five show off their bluesy rock vibes.
A wailing guitar solo, repetitive lyrics and vocals that are a bit rough around the edges mark this as good old American rock.

There is something about The Action Five's songs that make them seem significantly longer than they actually are. It could be the repetitive nature of the tracks, after the half way mark they tend to fall into a predictable pattern without anything new. It could be that the songs sound like they're ending... then kick back in for another round of the chorus. It's most likely because this is a sound we've heard over and over again making it sound old.

B-side 'Stuck In My Seat' offers a different take on their sound with stronger lyrical content and a solider rock beat. This track motors along with rapid vocals and driving guitars, continuing their theme there's a wailing guitar solo; this one bordering on the light metal/hard rock persuasion.

Final track 'Get Your Kicks' opens with a strong wail of the guitar. With much cleaner vocals and quieter guitars through the track, The Action Five show they can put together a song that allows vocals, melodies and rhythms to work in perfecy harmony to produce a solid sound.

The Action Five can pull together a decent American hard rock track. It's nothing new and doesn't offer anything to amaze you, but it's decent music, especially if you're a fan of the genre.
