"Just Bang Your Head" is the new EP from Portuguese hard rockers Mean Rock Machine.
I'm not sure if the vocalist's accent is a help or hindrance for this band; it sure gives them a distinctive sound, but it's not an accent commonly associated with kick-ass music! He sure has a strong voice though, which raises this band from "just another rock band" to something with a bit more substance.
'Mean Rock Machine' was definitely my favourite track on the record; standing out from the rest, this really showed off each band member's individual skills. From tight rhythms to soaring vocals to edgy guitar melodies, I loved everything about it!
Overall, "Just Bang Your Head" is an enjoyable introduction to Mean Rock Machine. In places, the glam influence is overbearing and comes across as rather camp, but it's soon beaten into place by the attitudinal guitars. One thing's for sure - there is definitely great potential for something special on future full-length releases.
