Cinematic
Our Ceasing Voice are an Austrian post-rock four piece with quite a slick sound and the all encompassing guitar sound that drives post rock waves. They have some great moments on this record, they add many interesting background quirks in the form of vocal samples, traffic noise and so on and they have some lovely piano refrains which add to the richness and layers. 'Without Even Breathing' is particularly lovely, with piano and string sounds making the track very cinematic.
This is actually something that can be said for the album as a whole; it has a very cinematic, open feel with slow builds and twinkly sounds making you want to crank the volume right up. They make full use of their synths to help build the sound, not just relying on the guitars to flesh things out but the slight Ambient edge is never too obvious and can leave you wondering if that was a real string or piano sound you heard. Obviously they bring out the guitars in full force to bring things to a crescendo and to wind things down again with some nice acoustic strumming.
Vocals make an appearance on 'Highway Lights' but they're not needed, the expansive feel created from the open echoes of acoustic guitar gives a melancholic, Americana feel. Our Ceasing Voice have some fantastic tunes here, the post-rock sound is given a cinematic edge through the use of ambient sounds and synth and you can really imagine this record as the soundtrack to something very epic.
