Kill The Captain - Your Own King

Despite a notable line-up change, which saw their two ex-bandmates leave to establish rising act Asking Alexandria, York's Kill The Captain didn't let it dampen their spirits. Instead, the two remaining Northerners upped their game by enlisting three new recruits, which sparked a stronger and more strident sound that can be heard on their debut record.

The mini-album titled 'Your Own King', which is released on March 14, sees the belligerent band unleash the fury, with grunts, growls, chants, clean vocals, beefy breakdowns and rampant riffs all making multiple appearances.

Musically the group are on top form throughout the release, their bludgeoning blend of hardcore and metal, which is often reminiscent of US heavyweights The Devil Wears Prada and August Burns Red, is exciting and enjoyable.

From the opening notes of the rowdy record's introduction to the closing seconds of the title-track, Kill The Captain offer up ferociously fast-paced metal that will go down a treat with fans of Bring Me The Horizon and Bury Tomorrow alike.

The British boys are relentless, storming through the seven-song release with power, drive and determination. They most definitely prove their worth with hard-hitting tunes like 'As I Said' and 'Good Luck With That One'.

'Your Own King' is a solid and sturdy effort that oozes both energy and enthusiasm. With their burly brand of hardcore-tinged metal, Kill The Captain could quite easily be giving their ex-band members a run for their money, Asking Alexandria, you have been warned.
