Flashguns – Passions Of A Different Kind
The single, 'Passions Of A Different Kind' is taken from the summer 2011 debut album by Flashguns. The band has been courted in the past by Radio One's Zane Lowe who hammered home his support for the 'Come And See The Lights' single late last year.
'Passions Of A Different Kind' is quite an accomplished song where Flashguns have managed to assemble a backing track which sounds almost like the anthemic rhythms of U2, though much watered down. Obvious comparisons will also be made to The Smiths, though the track does stand up on its own with its catchy rhythm and light melodies.
The other track on the CD is 'No Game – Just Sport'; a more down tempo and heavier track. Melancholic in mood, there is a slight light rock feel to it but the rhythm sounds just a bit too muffled; maybe this will be remastered before inclusion on the forthcoming album.
