Anthemic pop rock

"Animal" has pop, rock and electro flavours running throughout and mixed with a smattering of dark lyrics and very summery anthems they bring to mind everyone from My Chemical Romance to Coheed and Cambria to Killers. Managing to be very mainstream and radio friendly sounding but with a quirky sensibility this is a record that will surely appeal to a very wide range of listeners.

The mini album opens with the dark electro beats and groovy bass line of 'Corpse In The Hull'; a dramatic, atmospheric pop tune with a rock undertone. A simple melody is given depth with well constructed vocals lines, layers of anthemic guitars and electro claps this is an expertly put together track. 'Love Me Please' shows off Amy Sutton's lead vocal range and is more straightforwardly pop-rock with a solid foot stomping beat. 'Ice Cream Float' opens like a Minus The Bear tune, guitar riffs chime in loops, again those lyrics are more moody than the tune suggests; these are songs for the broken hearted. Title track 'Animal' is a vehicle for Amy's vocals to take off and she takes the opportunity well, from subtle and dreamy to emotive and soaring she takes it all on and does a pretty good job of pulling it all off.

The album is well put together, cohesive and dripping with catchy melodies. Vocally it's very strong and this is also backed by some really nice guitar work and solid drums. The whole package is well polished and should have a wide appeal.
