Drenched in heartfelt and heroic sentiments.

After locking themselves away to write about their encounters of tough love and hate, Young Rebel Set have produced their first long player. 'Curse Our Love' celebrates the highs and lows that make us who we are and it is well worth the three year wait.

The first single 'Lions Mouth' sets the album off to a good start, it delivers hard vocals and even harder rocking guitar riffs, in complete opposition to the much slower numbers like 'Won't get up Again' and 'Bagatelle' - which was released last month as part of the 'Won't get up Again' EP. If I were Noah and The Whale I'd be getting pretty worried, after their release of synth pop track 'Last day on Earth' they've left a gaping hole; one which this Stockton-on Tees septet will have no problem filling.

Want proof? 'If I Was' is a beautiful track which details the sorrow of a man sadly missing his lost love, it sees vocalist Matty Chipchase listing different pursuits he would take up to try and get back in his lasses good graces. Through the unpretentious lyrics in the chorus "I wasted so much time/ writing songs and playing on my guitar/ I wasted so much love/ I wish I'd never learned to play a note" you're being let in on the heartfelt aching from a sad musician.

Another winning number is 'Walk On' with an undeniably feel good piano and guitar chords which build up to an engaging chorus that, along with 'Borders', evidently showcases Chipchase's love of Springsteen. It will serve Young Rebel Set well throughout summer and it's easy to picture a group of drunken mates at festivals raising glasses to the tracks poppy melody.

Another festival winner 'Precious Days' delivers harmonica wails and expressive rhythm; which, along with 'Measure of Man' should be enough to quench any Mumford and Sons fans thirst.

A fine debut from a fine set of musicians 'Curse Our Love' is drenched in heartfelt and heroic sentiments, sing-along choruses, and hard-won honesty; showcased in both upbeat fun numbers and deep emotional ones, it's definitely one for your collection
