Boy Mandeville – Gorilla
Haringey based quartet Boy Mandeville burst on to the London music scene last year and are steadily gaining recognition for their unique sound. Blending together a variety of different musical elements including rock, pop, tango and calypso, as you would expect, the outcome is alive with sound.
'Gorilla' is an upbeat, summer infused song that will get a listener feeling the music throughout their body. After a few dozen listens, it is the music that sounds to be the main focus of the song. With such an array of sounds developed through solo periods on the track, the tune is pretty much busting with ambitious guitar riffs. Although the music is pleasing on the ears, unfortunately the vocals do not have much effort put into singing the lyrics. The words are practically spoken on the verses, however more melody is attached to the choruses, which aids the tune in progressing and blending great music and melodious vocals at this point.
Boy Mandeville's attempt at bringing the summer sunshine to the musical world deserves praise and recognition.
