Rockburn- Finkin

Rockburn release 'Finkin' in attempt to crack into the mainstream of radio with their middle-of-the-road rock sound. The anthemic thrust of an organ-infused chorus lifts the track from it's monotonous verses that slip past you before it's really begun.

It might be the lack of personality in the vocals that cause a failure to connect to the track, sitting somewhere between the nasal of Britpop and the sulk of grunge. If there was a classically edgy powerfully rock vocal in there, it may have carried the impact Rockburn were looking for. Instead, I couldn't help but think of a less country influenced version of Uncle Kracker as I listened to 'Finkin'. This may grab the attention of some people, but I can't say I was much of a fan first time round.

Perhaps Rockburn have lost their identity in their appeasing of the more commercial friendly sound.
