Great, accordion to me...

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to grab the shirt collars of a few musical genres, and stick them in the transporter machine that Holsten Pils drinker Jeff Goldblum fooled around in 25 odd years ago? Well, here with the slightly off-the-wall band, Lil Jim's Big Squeeze (great band name!) we get an idea. Think of a feverish accordion dancing over a Ska beat with vocals that are part Ska and part Blues, and then all laced together with some sweet harmonies, and a, er, washboard. Good stuff!

The 5-piece band from Derby mention that for the past 15 years, they have been playing and studying the music of the Louisiana Swamps and Bayous, Cajun and Zydeco, and I am guessing that this is almost Blue-Grass Punk in the way that it takes a roots and folk bassline of music and spices it up with some unorthodox contemporary leanings. Whatever the mix is you cannot help but be taken on a ride with the harmonies whilst singing in your head, "Is she cheatin', cheatin', cheatin' ? // Is she creepin', creepin', creepin'?".

This is a great single full of fun, but also bags of creativity and musical ability, and let's not forget to mention that they do a mean cover of Michael Jackson's 'Beat it'! Lovely.
