LionSex - Get It

Milton Keyne's five piece LionSex are hoping to grab the world's attention with the release of their debut album "Get It".

I'm not going to lie, when I first saw the name Lionsex, and started reading the press release that opens 'A Leppard, two Lions, a Tiger' and showing a photo of guys with big hair I instantly pigeon-holed LionSex as a Steel Panther rip off. I was wrong.

LionSex fuse the sounds of Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, and Marilyn Manson. While the album grabs you musically from the get go, the vocal styling takes a little getting used to. Despite looking like it would take them at least a couple of hours to fix their hair and make-up for a show, LionSex can certainly rock with the best of them. They're extremely musically talented.

There is plenty of energy packed into "Get It", it's the perfect soundtrack for anyone who loves a bit of sleazy rock. Strong basslines, solid drum work, and impressive guitar skills can be found throughout this album. LionSex have found the perfect balance between classic and commercial rock.

The track 'M.I.A' opens with some thick and fast guitar work, which Jef Leppard's raspy vocals lay perfectly on the top of. The standout track for me is 'Smokin' Out The Neighbourhood' a punchy little number, which would be the perfect song to sing and dance-along to at a live show, it actually reminds me a little bit of the Wildhearts.

Like the aforementioned Steel Panther, LionSex will be one of those bands that you either love or hate. I think "Get It" is a great debut album, and a lot of fun. I'll be keeping an eye out for LionSex playing a venue near me.
