Breton - Interference
Often called sonic and visual experimentalists, Breton are an art collective who create something that sometimes resembles indie rock, and they do a damn good job of it. Difficult to confine to just one genre, they take elements from almost everything - dub, indie, funk and post-rock - and mix it all together to make a sound that is often unlike anything else out there.
Interference is the second single from upcoming debut album Other People's Problems, and Breton use an actual orchestra on the track, played straight and loop sampled. The result is effective; all encompassing waves of sound which still manage to be energetic. Interference is set to become an indie/dance classic - frenetic and infectious.
B-side Plastic Boxes is almost hypnotic at times, pulsing and throbbing, highlighting Breton's love of electro. It's not quite the all-out assault on your ears that Interference does so well, but Plastic Boxes is more of an ongoing, creeping hit that manages to complement Interference well.
After listening to this, you'll barely be able to wait to be united with Interference on the dance floor.
