Tramortiria - Wrath Among The Dead
Italy is a country that seldom gets associated with metal as a genre outside of the realms of their biggest export in metal Lacuna Coil. But with a country that boasts such vast political corruption and the threat of being severely hit with vast austerity measures from the Eurozone crisis, the reactions from the people can come in the strangest of forms. One such form is gladly taken by four metal loving lads known as Tramortiria.
They have brutal and blunt force trauma style of thrash metal that delivers like a nasty punt to the face. Make no mistake about it; this is some heavy stuff being blasted out here. There are tonnes of bombastic grooves making their way into new album Wrath Among The Dead but alas this is an album that shows it limitations almost straight away. The pace although strong is very static and uninspiring (not something you particularly want for a metal band). Breakneck pace it very much isn't, in fact it feels very long winded and drawn out at times. Format wise, the mould isn't broken at all and no new ground is really covered, as raw as this sounds you can help but feel this is just four guys jamming out Lamb Of God and Metallica riffs in their garage.
Whilst song titles such as World Of Fashion and Bad News, Good Stuff indicate the political leanings and direction of the band, it lacks the snappy delivery and wit akin to some of the more veteran acts such Megadeth and Anthrax.
A solid effort from act trying to break out of a stereotyped scene but with it falling trap the standard generic patterns, the punch and power seems to gradually fade further and further away as the albums go on.
