Rebellious Jukebox

The Ex-Senators are a band from Chicago who have a desire to keep the rebellious tradition that was present in the origins of punk going. They fit very well into the tradition started by the Sex Pistols and The Clash in the 70s, and know it. The music has the same ethos behind it that put punk music on the map in the first place: the 'we've had enough, we need a revolution, rebel-with-a-cause' rousing energy is present in the lyrics as well as the music.

All this being said, you would be forgiven for thinking that this single was just going to be another diatribe-filled, screaming rant against the government over thrashing punk guitars with no real direction, but you would be wrong. Bookended by politically motivated recordings of politicians speaking about issues like Al-Qaeda, Start A fight reveals itself to be a more bluesy number than you might expect, with a heavy edge. The guitar riff is incredibly hard not to like, and there is a certain swagger to the track as a whole. The angry, rousing political lyrics are present, and they are very clear in the mix. The whole thing is short, sharp, to the point, and very listenable.
