New Found Heroes

The UK was recently revealed as being one of the main culprits for illegal downloading out of the entire world. What an accolade, gives you a warm tingling feeling of pride doesn't it! For those music fans who actually like to support the bands, illegal downloading is despicable, whilst bands struggle for recognition greedy little sods are only too willing to steal their music, but for one UK band they aren't even giving the thieves chance to do that. Charlie Indestructible have gone one step better in their attempt to garner the attention of the music fan by actually making their latest album, This City Needs A Hero available as a free download. Sure, they might not be making any money out of the venture but surely this is the ideal way to gain new fans?

With the melodic weight of Lostprophets, the youthful vibrancy and excitement of Young Guns and the bite of My Chemical Romance, Charlie Indestructible are a band that you need to get to know now. Brandishing melodic hooks that grab you in a death hold, refusing to let go, This City Needs A Hero is an white knuckle ride that soars with pop nouse whilst offloading gang chants to incite even the most lacklustre crowd. From the feedback fuzz of opener The World At Our Feet that erupts into a flurry of fist pounding beats and anthemic striving vocals through to latest single I'm The Fucking Guv'nor, Charlie Indestructible deny you even a second to catch your breath as killer riffs hold their own alongside passion drenched lyrics all held together with an energy that is unapologetically exciting. Sense Of Time finds the Luton five piece flaunting dramatic choruses akin to Funeral For A Friend, injecting a maturity to their sound yet still retaining the youthful exuberance that makes them so engaging whilst Set Sail Tonight exudes a fun filled sense of pure care free ease as foot stomping beats go shoulder to shoulder with gang vocals that are begging for a summer festival ground to bombard. Debut albums rarely come much better than this and Charlie Indestructible are testament to the fact that the UK can still produce great music.

It is a crime that Charlie Indestructible feel the need to release This City Needs A Hero as a free download. There are plenty of other bands who are only too willing to deprive the honest music fan of their money in exchange for an album that doesn't come close to being as good the Luton quintet's debut effort. That said, the album is free, you really won't be losing anything by checking it out, something that really should be done as the Luton lads deserve recognition and This City Needs A Hero should certainly earn them that. Forget needing a hero, this country just found itself a new favourite band.
