Punky Alt-rock
D.I.Y London trio Yokozuna released the My Turn To Be A Hero EP on their on label recently and it's four cracking tracks of punk edged alt-rock packed with hooks, solid riffage and melodic vocal lines.
Opener Architecture is reminiscent of Jetplane Landing - chunky guitars, mild distortion and rich bass lines, Extreme Sports Song has a grunge feel, warm and scuzzy with Dinosaur Jr. esque vocals, it's a great tune which only gets better with repeated spins. Man V Shoreline has a superb combination of memorable guitar parts and throbbing bass with nicely distorted vocals, this is arguably the best (and most addictive) tune on the EP. We close things out with Jesus Fork which really picks up the pace towards the end, getting you grooving along and leaves you wanting more.
