Lesson Time.

Thank god this isn't the Kelly Clarkson CD that Windows Media Player says it is! In a nutshell, Instruction are pretty catchy mid paced metal, described as New York's new Nirvana by NME. Not sure about that, but this is a definite grower. Released as a download only single on May 2nd and followed by an album on the 30th you can expect to hear a lot more from Instruction, already gracing MTV2 and on tour supporting 'A' they may well make a major breakthrough.

With such a plethora of rock/metal acts out there at the moment Instruction need a little extra something to set them apart and fortunately they seem to have that. They successfully contrast the harder, louder chorus with more intricate and softer verses and although 'Breakdown' is unlikely to blow you away it's definitely worth a second play. Citing influences from U2 to the Foo Fighters, the album promises to be interesting at the very least and gives you a good idea of what they sound like. Instruction are melodic and manage to combine vocal harmonies with hard riffs and shouting choruses, which all works well together.

'Breakdown' is a good introduction to Instruction if you've never heard them before. Iif you can't wait for the album there are a couple of tracks available for download from their website: www.instruction-music.com and the Room Thirteen review of the album can be found here.
