Anberlin - Vital

Florida-based rockers Anberlin are set to release their sixth studio album next month, and it's certainly a treat for those who have loved the band for years. They've even announced a UK tour to coincide with their release too, just to spoil us.

Vital kicks off with the explosive and turbulent Self-Starter, and it's clear that the band's energy and passion have not even slightly wavered since their last release in 2010. It's awesome, it's dark, and it's downright exciting. The aggressive tracks continue to pour out; Other Side showing the band's dark side with its shadowy undertones, and Desires sounding angrier than Jeremy Kyle when confronted by a gobby chav. The lively, aggressive and fiery Little Tyrant blends a more punk-ish element into the album, and the chorus is anthemic to the point that I can't physically stay still in my seat.

There are so many tracks on the album that can only be described as bloody awesome. The keyboard components twisting and turning throughout most of the songs are stunningly haunting, particularly in Orpheum and Type Three, creating a gorgeous chilling effect alongside the beautifully delivered vocals. God, Drugs and Sex; Modern Age, Someone Anyone, and Intentions are just few of many hooking, punchy and dynamic tracks whose incredibly catchy lines will not leave your head, but to be fair, you probably won't be complaining about it. Even though the swaying and slow number, Innocent, brings the fast-paced numbers to a halt, the dark undertones are still maintained and the album will still continue to hold your attention with the tightest grip possible.

This album really is vital to your music collection; there is never a dull moment. Each track is soaring and electrifying, and each chord will pulsate through you. The effect is quite intoxicating (in a good way, of course).
