When We Were Wolves

Just a brief word for Rianne Rowlands just for the artwork that has been done on this EP it is truly amazing! Influenced by God knows what, it inspires fear and love at the same time. Absolutely awesome!

All Good People Must Come to an End, a great message for everyone clearly, the song itself is almost a beautiful melody with some shouting to accompany it. The instruments mould well with the vocals and make it something of perfection and more than anything it makes it a great intro for a fantastic EP.

Under the Water has a great chorus that will be difficult not to mosh along to, the song goes heavy straight away with a wicked drum beat alongside an amazing guitar riff. The only thing that slightly falls here are the vocals, at time they seem out of rhythm and almost separate to the song itself. The song in essence is still good but the vocals let it down just slightly.

The third song on the EP This is Where We Belong is awesome, fast paced, lyrically brilliant and the vocals have definitely picked up from the previous song. The only problem is the ending. Between track three and four there is no space and track four (Your Sick Fantasy) still sounds like an additional section to this song. It took me a while to realise that the songs had changed.

The singing in Your Sick Fantasy is fantastic, accompanied with screaming it really gives this song an edge that the rest of the EP is missing, it gives it a very A Day to Remember feel which is always good for any band to do. The problem with this song is that the regular singing takes a back seat until the chorus and it would be better if it was prominent all the way through...for me personally. Fans of Bring Me the Horizon might like this song.

It says a lot that the best song on this album is the one that involves another singer from a separate band. Hounds Feat. Phil Cross (from the band Continents) is an excellent piece of music that any metalhead would get along with. The start sounds like some piece of haunted house music but once it kicks in it sounds awesome! Phil Cross has a great voice and really adds a great perspective to this song. The music becomes more like A Day to Remember than ever and is definitely a completely separate song from the rest of this EP.

While When We Were Wolves provide an awesome sound and a great EP there is nothing more than that, they don't add anything to the current music we have today and don't really stretch any kind of boundaries, that doesn't mean this EP isn't pretty cool though. A must listen for any metalcore people.
