Pop-rock gems

The Weeds are about to release their debut EP; the band featuring former members of Transit, Late Nite Wars and Defeo has hit on a nice combo of poppy melodies and great riffs although the vocals may be a bit sugary for some.

The six track EP opens with the excellent track Sunset Eyes, the first few bars of which are slow paced and technically interesting, then the track breaks into a much faster paced rhythm and youthful sounding vocals and the tune is great, it immediately gets you moving along and after a few listens, singing along too. One of the highlights is Feel Nothing, this is a cracking pop-rock tune with a slightly melancholic air and sparring super sweet male / female vocals.

This EP is a real treat for pop-rock fans, the band draws on a variety of influences from Tegan and Sara to Saves The Day and this shines through in these tunes. A solid start for this band, we hope to hear more soon.
