The Tequila Rockingbirds - Drowning in a Moment of Enlightenment
Newfoundland based rockers The Tequila Rockingbirds independently produced their debut offering of Drowning in a Moment of Enlightenment. It's one of the most original offerings I've heard in and for the first time in a long time, I honestly can't stop playing it.
With clear influences from AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and many more, it's clear to hear that this classic rock band are set for great things. I mean, who wouldn't enjoy listening to all the best bits from their guilty pleasures mixed together on one cd?
Drowning In A Moment Of Enlightenment will take you on a musical adventure intermingling magnificent tastes of many great rock sounds. From the heavy guitar driven opener Jericho to the softer Are You Listening this album contains a diverse assortment of tracks for everyone. Singer Percy McDonalds vocal ability is somewhat outstanding and his capacity to sing heavy ballads followed by softer ones sets him aside from so many of the other classic rock artists out there today.
The bands musicianship is astounding and totally shines through especially on masterpieces like Drowning in a Moment of Enlightenment and Shoot Me. Chris Davis' bass virtuosity is stunning, and the outstanding work of guitarist David Caines and drummer Tony Hollet make The Tequila Rockingbirds a multi-dimensional band covering all areas of classic rock that there is to be explored and conquered.
I honestly can't say that there is a bad track on this album. The combination of genres including some fantastic funk on one of my personal favourite tracks You've Got the Rolling Stone gives this offering an undeniable quality.
If you're looking for a good old rock 'n roll band inspired by some of the greatest classic rock artists, then please give this album a go. Even if it's one of those guilty pleasures you have to sing along to when you're in your car alone you won't be disappointed.
