Scuzzy D-Beat

This five track EP holds a collection of solid D-Beat tunes released through DIY label Witchhunter records. The Leeds four piece not only inject top notch dark and chunky riffage but also some groove-laden moments, making tracks like Hollow Lies and Weight Of The World really stand out. The EP is vaguely reminiscent of bands like Cancer Bats in the mix of styles but, dare we say it, Seagraves are a touch scuzzier and moodier in tone. Not a bad tune on the EP but closer Wrong deserves a mention; fast paced and overlaid with growling vocals, underneath the hardcore crust is an almost grunge edged tone, catchy little riffs pop up here and there and a layer of noise-core scuzz pervades. Nice.

You can download Seagraves record and many others for 'name your price' at the label's Bandcamp which we'd heartily recommend, mind you the packaging on the limited edition CD is pretty tasty too and holds a vinyl-style lyric sheet insert which we love.
