Coldplay. What are you expecting? The smooth voice of Chris Martin over understated piano work, which rises into main position on this angelic new single from the most miserable boys in rock? Exactly what I was going to say about their latest single 'Speed of Sound'. Sitting between 'The Scientist' and 'Clocks', it's a mellow offering that's bland enough to appeal to pretty much anyone who stumbles across it on either the Radio or TV- because lets face it, no one writes Radio Rock better than Coldplay.
But don't get me wrong- this is a fantastic single. It's intelligent lyrics provide a depth that couldn't be reached by Chris Martins high pitched voice alone and once the song gets going, it's an enjoyable ramble into the world of Coldplay. No one makes this type of music the way they do and their chart position will show this when the single is unleashed fully on May 23rd. Make sure you buy your copy and have your share of the Coldplay love.
