Miss Vincent – Creepy
Combining elements of pop, punk and rock on their debut five track EP Creepy, here comes Guilford based 4-piece Miss Vincent.
Deadlock is the explosive opening track and it is catchy, melodic and has a feel good touch about it. The instant it erupts you can't help but be grasped by the upbeat nature, solid guitar riffs and up tempo vocals as well as the harmonies as they chip in. I Don't Want This takes a more punk approach to the music. It is faster paced and builds with a frustration that wants to be released. Planning to Fail was the recent single to be released from the EP and is another punch to the gut to be heard. It takes the melodies down a notch and has a deeper touch than previews songs, while the fast paced drumming continues at times. Carry On demonstrates the band is on the right track to create a punk anthem that could potentially be memorable. Testing Times is the EP's closing tune and rounds up the EP just as it began.
At just over fifteen minutes, this five track EP is the perfect introduction to what Miss Vincent is able to accomplish; there is certainly a lot of potential bubbling away. Although there is not a great deal of change throughout the five songs, a future album release would hopefully show this side a little more and really dig deep into the abilities and mind set of Miss Vincent.
