Rising Up From The Ashes
Fed up with the run of the mill, paint by numbers rock? Sick and tired of bands flinging hooks and gang vocals at you and hoping you will succumb to their obvious musical superiority? Then never fear because finally there is a band not resting on their laurels and regurgitating the same riff over and over again but one who aren't following the pack, instead tapping into a genre which many overlook and offering up a dose of progressive hardcore that just might hit the spot.
Brighton based quintet We Never Learned To Live started out life as If Heroes Should Fail but 5 years down the line and countless gigs under their belts a name change occurred and up from the ashes rose WNLTL who, after a mere nine months are already releasing their debut self titled EP, and sure, it may only consist of three tracks but clocking in at 24 minutes, that's longer then many bands try to pass off as an album!
As you would expect from a band labelling themselves "cathartic post-hardcore", WNLTL's debut EP is a soundscape bristling with atmospheric guitars and spine tingling beats that explode, intricately telling a story through each and every note played. From the hauntingly mesmerising Afloat that teasingly draws you into WNLTL's engaging sound to the captivatingly intriguing Crow's Feet through to rush of Kepler, WNLTL have created 24 minutes of intelligent rock that glistens with accomplished musicianship whilst begging to be heard and whilst this particular style of music might not be everyone's cup of tea, this is definitely an EP which any music fan would enjoy and should take the time to hear.
