Pigs - Gaffe

New York's noise trio; Pigs, are set to release their short but sweet EP Gaffe.

Having never heard of Pigs before (the band, not the animals) I did not know what to expect from Gaffe; an EP which is being released as a stopgap between their debut album and their sophomore effort, which is still in the works. Having no expectations, it turns out I was pleasantly surprised by what the three-track release offered.

The title track acts as the opener and a bone rattling bassline soon comes rumbling out of the speakers, the band claim to have taken a more relaxed approach with this EP, but that is not evident in the music heard on Gaffe.

The EP is dark and delicious; offering plenty to sink your teeth into. Sandwiched between the opening and closing tracks is a fantastic cover of Cheap Trick's Elo Kiddies; Pigs have made the song their own giving it an Alice Cooper vibe – simply divine!

The release of Gaffe coincides with Pigs European tour, which sadly misses the UK. Gaffe is a stellar release and is well worth a listen; it is guaranteed to leave you wanting more.
