THE HELL, YOU DICK

When The Hell released their first record a few years ago, it felt like a one off - a one off ‘fuck you’ to the current state of our industry. Thankfully this wasn’t the case because as we get to album number three, it is clear that The Hell still have a hell of a lot to say. If you have absolutely no idea who these guys are, in summary they’re a Hardcore band royally taking the piss out of Hardcore Music. The key is that whilst humour comes first with The Hell, the actual music backing all of it is absolutely superb as well mixing punishing riffs and beat downs with consummate ease. On record they’ve always been entertaining, but when you’re listening to The Hell you end up leaning towards thinking just how fun some of these tracks are going to be live - because this is where they excel.

Plenty of people don’t get on with what The Hell are all about and frankly if you’ve thrown this on and haven’t raised even the slightest smile to either One More Time or I’ve Got Loads Of Money then you probably need to keep on walking. Where the first album is full of raw intensity, with Brutopia the band have utilised some of the higher production used on Groovehammer to just raise those ridiculous levels of heavy even more. But with this band, it’s impossible not to lay down a review without chuckling and picking out some of the very best lyrical content - ”If you get Down With The Sickness you’re a fucking prick” and Do you think I really give a fuck BABY, if Metal has turned you CRAZY being particular highlights on reflection. Again, you’re not meant to take The Hell that seriously, it’s all part of the humour so if it hasn’t been for you already in the past then you’re likely to turn your nose up to this as well.

Overall then, whether you like them or not, The Hell have delivered yet again. There is room to argue that this should probably be the album cycle which sees them bow out (many of the jokes have gone beyond being recycled) but even if this were to be the case, they’ve left it on a high note. As we’ve already mentioned, we cannot wait to see some of these tracks live.
