Culminating In Brilliance

Reculver might be an unknown name at the moment, but that should change with the release of 'Sharp Sand'. Having already headlined at the Camden Underworld, there's a very good reason why this band are going to be pushed to the forefront of rock music. This band deserve the limelight, and their organic, fresh-faced hard rock is proof.

In their previous band House of Flies they toured with the likes of Megadeth and this is clearly visible in their latest single 'Sharp Sand'. It's driving, powerful rock that will not fail to get you up on your feet and dancing. There's the heavy bassline, thickset guitars and the kind of driving vocals that are inspired by the greatest bands around. This is the music that bands inspired by Guns 'N' Roses, Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne should be making.

Now, this is where I strike gold. Rather than just a single, the promo copy I have also includes four of the tracks recorded under the title 'The Konk Sessions'. These are live, loud and extremely proud songs that crunch like rabbit skulls underfoot. 'We Are The People' begins as it means to go on: a three-minute foray into the world of Reculver. Sexy vocals that grind against energetic guitars are also to be found on 'Wake Up Call'. This is vivid, passionate music that isn't afraid to place stadium-sized choruses alongside mid paced verses.

That's not all Reculver are capable of, however. 'The Climb' shows their more emotional side and delivers another slab of stadium rock, this time in the form of a beautifully driven ballad, which builds into a deliciously over-the-top ending. Final 'Keep Walking' is a funkier offering, featuring a purring bassline and full throttle guitars on top of lyrics that echo with shadows of Aerosmith. Reculver's music is short, snappy and delivers these aural bombs to you with the minimum of trouble.
