Country shenanigans

You might have heard Patricia Vonne's name if you're a movie follower or have seen recent Blockbuster 'Sin City' in which she played the all too brief part of 'Dallas'. Her single therefore gives us a better chance to get to know the talented Miss Vonne, who is very much a Texas girl with a lovely breathy voice and country swaggering sound.

The songs, although written by Vonne, are so generic that it's hard to judge, this isn't a bad thing as most of her audience will fall in love with the tunes and aren't looking for anything experimental, just more of what they love, and that's what Vonne provides. 'Joe's Gone Ridin'' is a moody, gusty tune with storming guitars and racing beat that Vonne smooths her slick vocals over. 'Can You Hear Me' is a classic country ballad from Vonne's self-title debut, it sways along gently and the quiet backing makes the most of the big, soulful vocals. 'Bandolera' is the perfect, twinkling Spanish acoustic flamenco number, with Vonne even singing in fluent Spanish (her brother is director Robert Rodriguez if you were wondering about her roots).

Vonne has the spark that can set any tune alight, these tunes themselves don't provide anything new or unique to the music sphere, except a talented young woman with a great voice, but isn't that enough?
