Clor: Outlines Review
Clor may be half a step away from becoming the band of the moment and the new media darlings courted by the NME but the single sounds like the Pet Shop Boys mixed with a strangled Placebo. 'Outlines' is electronic music cross pollinated with an indie vibe. The repetition en masse of the scant lyrical sentence: "We are all special in your own way" forces ennui down the gullet and the listener soon realises that they have heard it all before. There's no feeling in the voice as electronic music is derived predominantly from the bowels of a computer processor. Clor also appear to have very little to say and it's difficult to see how they intend to carve out a place for themselves on the music scene, given that their album will be released shortly after the single hits the shops.
'Outlines' is a value-for-money inspired single with a multitude of tracks included on the CD. Clor have taken care of their fans and are sure that their fans will grow in number if kissed and caressed with the right kind of patter from the band. The indie music march goes on. I sense I will be one of the few detractors Clor experience on their path to 'The Bands 06' compilation. 'Outlines' is predictable and only merits one listen.
