How Scary Movie Should Have Been

Comedies can so often fall flat on their faces. Parodies of other films almost always fall flat on their faces. Taking these two facts in to consideration, it’s going to be interesting to see how a comedic-spoof of a horror movie works. To many the 'Scary Movie' trilogy was a painful excuse for five hours of film – so it seems doubtful that 'Shaun of the Dead' will actually work.

Shaun is an almost-thirty British lad living with two of his mates. The stuck-up mature one and the fat job-less one. Shaun is stuck in a dead end retail job and has just managed to make his girlfriend of three years leave him when strange things start to happen. After a barrage of records thrown at the Zombies fails to behead them, it becomes apparent that, perhaps, it’s going to be necessary for everyone to spend an evening locked in the pub. After the odd fight here or there, everything is back to normal and the Zombies have jobs working in supermarkets tidying up the car parks.

Now this isn’t the tightest plot that has ever been written down, but it is implemented hilariously. If your sense of humour is slightly twisted and you take pleasure in seeing how stupid some people are then you’ll love this film. If not? You’ll love this film anyway. In years to come, ‘Shaun of the Dead’ is going to be a cult classic.
