Awesome thrash from Gainesville's favourite
What could you expect from a band with a name as sordid as 'Assholeparade' other than some dirty thrash/hardcore? Having split in 2002 and after playing a reunion show in 2004, the band decided to give it another go because 'shit's fun.'
'Say Goodbye' is the Assholeparade's debut release on No Idea since their reformation and it's just a brief taster of their full-length, which is to be released by the end of this year. Completed with Matt Sweeting and Drew Demario sharing rhythm guitar, the record features 15 tracks, which individually last no longer than a 100 seconds. Assholeparade are the perfect melange of Citizen Arrest's musical aggression and the high-speeds of No Comment.
This latest release from the pioneers of 90's thrash shows that the band are well and truly alive. Opening track 'Mr Rippington's Revenge' starts the album off at a brutal speed. The great thing about this EP is that the band manages to hold on to this aggressive speed throughout 'Say Goodbye' and retain its momentum the whole way through. 4th track 'Exploding Club Of Hearts' has some great duel screaming between the members. Although the songs sound a little similar, the great thing is that the band manage to alternate roles in songs without sounding too dramatically different. So the album finishes off where it began - let's hope their future full-length will be as exciting as this release.
