A promising demo

With an average band member age of 19 (each, not combined), Glassfactory are a new band who already reveal a great deal of promise in their music. The band formed only in February last year and already this marks the release of their second demo. The four band members come from Oxfordshire, and although I can hear a certain amount of potential within their music, I do not think they are quite ready to make it big yet.

This self titled demo CD consists of three tracks, one of which is very good, one which is average, and another which I am afraid to say is not so great. I believe the strengths of Glassfactory lie within the memorable guitar riffage and melodies within the tracks. The vocalist has a voice that comes across as slightly shaky, and his age is clearly recognisable from his singing. The vocals overall sound extremely similar to bands such as InMe.

The CD starts off very promising, the first track 'What We Were Unaware Of A Week Ago' has a great intro that really kicks the gears into motion for the rest of the track. I almost think it is too short. Track two; 'Long Sunday' is pretty average but I think it is the third and final track 'Sherry Gunther' that really lets the band down. It lacks any definition and ends up becoming lost awash a midst of changes in tempo and drowning vocals. Also I must point out that although I know the band produced this demo themselves, the production values are the real killer on here.

Despite the negativity, there is substantially more than a glimmer of hope here though, and I believe with a lot more time together writing songs and playing gigs, there are many possibilities for Glassfactory.
