Not fading away yet

Back quicker than Peter Hook at a free bar and swooping before anyone starts to write them off, Bloc Party return with 'Two More Years' their first new material since March's debut album, 'Silent Alarm,' was released to a public largely enthralled with its uber modern slant on the darker side of the 1980's.

Not straying too far from the blueprint that brought them such levels of success, 'Two More Years' kicks off smothered in trademark indie ambiance before veering into a staccato chorus of the type fast becoming synonymous with the band. The vocal line of singer Kele Okereke is one of ultra calm and delivered in a melody, at times, not a million miles from fellow indie pioneers Mansun's 'I Can Only Disappoint You' a facet only adding to the overall quality.

While by no means the sound of a band in peak form, 'Two More Years' should ensure Bloc Party continues to be a name regarded in terms of longevity in a world where trends demand that so many others will be destined to fall at the first hurdle.
