Through The Eyes Of The NWOAHM

Originally formed after the break-up of several members from their previous band, Tell Her I Said Goodbye, Through the Eyes of the Dead are here with their first full-length album entitled 'Bloodlust'.

Starting the proceedings with a hellish intro, the sound of innocent humans being tortured can be heard in the background until ' Two Inches from a Main Artery' erupts into a marching frenzy of hardcore/metalcore, a brutal start off. The second track 'When Everything Becomes Nothing' gives off a strong death metal odour, in the style of Egyptian influenced metallers, Nile. It is quite hard to decide whether 'Bloodlust' is a hardcore album, a death metal album or a metalcore album at times? Maybe the writer should call it Hard-death-metal-core or more simply 'Deathcore' as the band like to refer to themselves as. Tracks such as 'Two Inches From A Main Artery' lean toward to more hardcore side of things, whereas tracks such as 'With Eyes Ever Turned Inward' are much more death metal influenced tracks.

The production on this album is satisfactory, although at times, lead singer Anthony Gunnel's voice sounds a bit low in the mix at times.

'Bloodlust' is a rather solid album but the one main flaw is that it has no stand-out tracks; they are all equal to one another, all pretty average although still solid.

Overall, not a bad first effort from this bunch of fresh, American death core metallers, although, lads one thing to remember is: A little originality in the current metal scene is often well appreciated. So if you are into bands like Nile, Hatebreed, The Haunted and Shadows Fall, 'Bloodlust' is almost certainly an album for you!
