The Arctic Monkeys Are Looking Good On The Dancefloor

One of the most exciting and talked about new bands of 2005 release the single which is poised to catapult them to the next level and mainstream recognition. Sheffield's Arctic Monkeys have been compared to the likes of The Smiths and Libertines. The B-side track 'Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts' is certainly reminiscent of when Carl and Pete were able to spend enough time in the same room to produce something more than an argument.

The lead track 'I Bet you Look Good on the Dancefloor' is a heavier, faster, more punky and energetic offering and is the stronger of the two by some way. There is a similar theme running through both tracks, the problems of trying to pull in your local nightspot, and the disappointments and other assorted bad emotions that this can throw up.

Pulling for this lot shouldn't be a problem now though as they've been building a devoted fan base for the past twelve months or so through their live performances and the power of the Internet, with many a broadband point being used to download the band's demos.

This is Arctic Monkeys first release on Domino and should be the first of many to come, as it's one of the best tracks around right now. This time last year it was Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party and Maximo Park who were causing a serious stir, lets reconvene in another twelve months and see just how big Arctic Monkeys have become.
