Eastpak and Sideonedummy team up for another compilation

To accompany the Antidote tour that hits various locations around Europe in November, Side One Dummy has teamed up with the guys at Eastpak to bring 24 tracks of some of the skate companies sponsored bands. The compilation hits every side of the musical ocean reaching from culture influenced Gogol Bordello to emotional hardcore from Ephen Rian. Millencolin, Randy, Flogging Molly and The Unseen appear on this compilation and will be playing all the dates on the tour.

Complimented by a cover picture of plectrums, the CD begins with The Loved Ones proving to the listeners that pop punk might not be the most favoured genre at the moment but it's still alive and kicking. It's great to see SideoneDummy able to make a compilation of music of all genres rather than one that bases itself on the selling point of fashion. A song that's so unusual to hear on this type of compilation is Ephen Rian's 'With The Absence Of Mind.' Which is best left described as 'Gypsy Punk'

Some of the USA's most experienced punk bands have also leant their name to this compilation including the almighty Strike Anywhere with 'To The World' from their latest full-length and skate punks No Use For A Name giving their latest single 'For Fiona' which presents a good representation of the band for anyone who may of never heard of either before.

The compilation is certainly a great mixture of bands from countries all round the world. It's rare to see an American label picking up on these bands and integrating them into such a great compilation. Spanish quarter No Children will be raising eyebrows bringing a sound that's similar to Red lights Flash or even a Less complex Strung Out. Vanilla Sky who are from Italy could even be mistaken as an improved Starting Line! Britain's favourite keyboard band My Awesome Compilation make an appearance as well as Hell Is For Heroes who seem to have re-emerged from the grave.

So whether you're into your old school pop punk (MXPX), paddy punk (Flogging Molly) or some extreme deck mixing (Raised Fist) you're like this compilation regardless. It will even open your eyes to a blooming European scene that has gone untouched by the British and American media.

p.s check out Gas Drummers, what a rad song!
