The Shit? No. Shit? Yes.

'Play Dead: The Shit - Volume 2' is a compilation album that supposedly showcases the UK's best upcoming acts, but after a few listens, this writer begs to differ.

Starting off with a track by a band called The Legacy entitled 'Stinking Fist', the album gets off to a rather poor start, this seeking reeks of poorly written emocore, but maybe it will get better as the tracks pass? The next track is by Shots Fired and this is quite simply un-listenable, the writers ears scream 'FUCKING HELP!' every time they here this, sorry to be so harsh, but the truth hurts. The album continues on the emo road until it reaches track eight, a song by The Nothing entitled 'Purity', a plodding metal track that clocks in at just two minutes, nothing awesome but a damn sight better than the seven previous tracks. Next is the highlight of the album; 'Nothing Tastes like This' by the almighty Send More Paramedics, some fine zombie metal! After a measly two metal tracks, the album turns back onto the Emo motorway briefly for a track by a band called Days Ago, another emo track, yawn. The next track is a slow dirge like track by EF, almost like Isis, but a bit more commercial and basically, shitter. The next turn the album decides to take is down the motorway of 'Random as hell crap' as we a treated (Did I say treated? I meant tortured) by some bizarre music from acts such as City on Film and Reigns. No thanks.

If this album is showcasing some of UK's up and coming raw talent then there really is no hope for the UK music scene whatsoever, god, please save us! The writer could have come up with a decent CD showcasing Britain's best, fresh acts in ten minutes and it would still be better than this crap. Stay well away. Truly awful.
