A Big Slice of Retro
Well, I could have sworn I was listening to a band from the eighties. It's all there on 'We Had Pleasure', synths, jangly guitar and staccato drumming. A cross between Flock of Seagulls "a/U" and Echo And The Bunnymen. The second track on this single, 'The Entry Way' carries on the theme but more like Echo And The Bunnymen with a huge chunk of Dead Can Dance thrown in for good measure. Fine if you like that sort of thing. It's good, it's very good, but you find yourself saying "So what?" While it's refreshing to find a band who care enough to do this kind of retro thing well (best I've heard for a long time), you may well find yourself thinking "I'll just go and play my proper postpunk era CDs.Whippersnappers!"
But saying that. I can definitely see that there will be a lot of interest taken in this L.A. outfit. Worth keeping an eye on, reckon.
