Pure pop falsetto fun.

Like a younger version of The Sparks, The Young Knives mix falsetto vocals, contagious rhythms with a sense of humour and create a tremendous little single.

'The Decision' constantly buzzes from its intro and it's hard to imagine the tempo being maintained for much longer than the track's 3 and a half minutes. Even the short guitar break fails to throw the listener off course with the drums keeping everyone in line and ready to go again when the verse returns.

The vocals and lyrics border on the bizarre and absurd but they work really well and provide a focus to the nagging guitar riff that propels the song along. The falsetto has had a bad rap in recent years due to that balding buffoon from The Darkness but in the proper hands (or larynx) it's a thing of beauty. Couple this section with the main verse's simple rhyming but forceful lyrics and you have a track that comes together really well.

You know it's a fun single and you could almost picture the band with their eyebrows arched when creating this track, like they know the in-joke and no one else does. For fans of pop and pomposity, the decision to check out this track is a no brainer.
