Top Notch Tunes To Blow You Away

When I first read the name of this band I was expecting some wishy washy God-Rock, but this is anything but. Focused, punk-edged sleazy indie rock is what is on offer from the interestingly titled Weapons Of Mass Belief (WOMB).

The track starts deceptively with a strummed acoustic guitar riff before the main riff hammers home from distorted guitars and drums. The pace is moderate but relentless and coupled with the in-your-face half rapped half sung vocals, helps to give the track immense power. You get the feeling that these guys really rock live.

The overall sound is a bit like a toned down version of Rage Against The Machine. The guitar work is not as expressive or technical as RATM but it works well in the context of the song. The same can be said for the vocals, passionate but without the screaming, this is a good thing though, anything more would be overkill and the touch of female vocals in the band also really helps to define their individual sound. There is tension kept up throughout with expert production and interesting chordal progressions. This isn't your usual run of the mill indie rock band, the song and lyric writing is top notch and I'd highly recommend WOMB to anyone who likes the darker side of indie rock or bands like RATM or Cypress Hill.
