Stadium-rock dreamers have potential

Yet another Yorkshire band comes to steal us away from our time and money but Your Vegas sound nothing like their contemporaries that are being pushed at the moment.

New single 'Flybuzz' starts off like Muse with its tinkling piano riff and foreboding background hiss but the track quickly veers into a stadium friendly chorus, kicking out at all around it.

The lyrics are standard pondering God being one of us and taking drugs lyrics, and whilst its all been said a million times before, its not bad and fits in with the music. They even get away with a Duran Duran steal with the refrain "this is planet earth..." so sometimes its best not to get caught up in the lyrics, but the vocals have a rasping quality to them and still stand out over the bedlam that occurs when the songs builds to its climax.

'Salavdore' is a more sedate affair, it tinkles and meanders at the start but the feeling its going to kick off is always there and before too long, the tempo is upped and the nagging guitar rhythm vies with the backing percussion for attention.

There are two quite different tracks here that showcase a lot of potential for Your Vegas and placing them as new contenders for Coldplay and Muse support slots.

With a name like Your Vegas there will be rubbish puns aplenty, and to be honest, this single is well worth a gamble of your hard-earned cash.
