Seedy Disco Rock

Named after a cruddy East German car, Trabant are an Icelandic troupe of five musical misfits, all with apparently very different tastes. Amongst them, are a rap producer, a death metaller, a dance-crazed DJ, a preachers' son and former boy band star. That should make for an interesting sound.

'Loving Me' seems to fall into the category of Indie-disco, a pulsating little electronic number brimming with quirky beats and seedy vocals. Already a major hit back in Iceland, Trabant have set their sights on the rest of the world, but with a niche audience and so many trendy electro-rock bands around at the moment, it may be that they have picked the wrong time to do so. How many more Scissor Sisters/Goldfrapp style bands can we take at one time?

However, despite the fog of the disco smoke machine, there is no denying it is a good track, and I especially liked the full on bleepy-ness of the B-side, Galdur.
