That's all folks!

The first single to be taken from Teddy Thompson's impressive new album "Separate Ways" (reviewed by none other than yours truly for Room Thirteen) is a finely crafted, mid-tempo folk pop delight. Over the coo-ing back-up vox of the Wainwright siblings (Martha and Rufus) Teddy urges everybody to "move it" and not in the "move it buster you're taking up valuable space in the Top 40" sense, which seems like an odd request when you consider the fact that this track isn't an especially dynamic affair.

This is not a slight on Thompson though as the shuffling pace and sparse but sparkling acoustic guitars contained within suit his rich expressive vocals that sit somewhere between the aforementioned Rufus Wainwright and the god-like Jeff Buckley. Given some press and radio support Teddy Thompson could become nu-folks' latest cross-over success. One suspects he's not bland enough for mainstream tastes just yet however, which is a pity in one respect as it would be a crying shame if this single were to be commercially overlooked in favour of the Blunts of this world.
