An Interesting Debut EP
A rather misleading name for a band that are actually from the north east of England, this is a promising demo for this Indie-Rock band.
People of Santiago appear to be a group who are intent on just writing good music, but they also attempt to make a political statement with their anti-corporate views. There is also an air of paranoia and isolation in their music, brought about by guitar and synthesizer based tracks.
It is not all doom and gloom though, the first track is actually quite mellow and upbeat, and there are times when the band remind me of early Placebo back in the days when they were good.
Occasionally the lead singer Andrew Young's vocals do sound a bit off the mark, but his overall uniqueness makes for a memorable voice which fits perfectly to the music. There is definitely chemistry within the group which makes for an interesting first EP.
