A Downdime Showcase
To some with Leeds band Downdime we're merely preaching to the converted, however this is likely to be the first time the majority have come across this name.
It is clear why 'Hate The Morning' should spearhead a popular live show on the UK's student circuit. The production of this track has done what many strive to do, and less succeed; taking the onstage atmosphere and burning it to CD via a recording studio.
In terms of the sound of this track, imagine if the Magic Numbers went full on rock! 'Hate The Morning' has that timeless British alternative rock attitude, whilst being able to appeal to those of a summery persuasion in the way Magic Numbers do very successfully.
The vocals at times get a little lost in the music, and there is an argument to say that this track could be shorter and more concise as at times it seems to meander somewhat. However this is one of those occasions where listening to a track through your speakers is simply a substitute for seeing it played live, as this is where it's sure to really come into its own.
