Not So Keane

Well you cannot have missed the promotion that has gone on with this single Keane's "Is It Any Wonder" is being rammed down our throat left, right and centre. Every time you switch on the radio or turn MTV on this is being played to death - sorry death would be too nice for this song.

Keane that Indie band with no guitars and plenty of synths effects are back with "Is It Any Wonder", the first track off their second album "Under The Second Sea". What is it about second albums? How many bands' second album is like a noose around the neck, and just simply not good enough to follow up a fantastic debut album?

"Is It Any Wonder?" is supposed to be a realignment of Keane's trademark melody, but twisted with a grittier and angrier dynamic. I know one thing it will certainly make you angry if you were to buy the track! The song is dire, lacklustre, repetitive and quite frankly boring, and I am being polite.

This song is supposed to be questioning the frustrations of a generation dislocated from themselves, searching for an answer that is never there, a place that does not exist. A generation that feels powerless and disillusioned with the decisions made on their behalf. A crisis of identity, a loss of innocence. A fairytale gone wrong. Couldn't put those sentiments better myself, but that's how this single made me feel! A great disappointment, I certainly hope the album is better.
